Top 4 Travel Destinations for 2014
Travel is an important part of your overall health, as it helps to break habits and change up a regular routine.
But you don’t have to think small. Go big in 2014 and set your sights on these fantastic travel destinations. This year, save up your vacation days and hit some of these top four spots for travel.
1. Cape Town, South Africa
Travel here if you want to develop your meditation techniques in the place where Nelson Mandela found inspiration. In a speech, Mandela once said, “To us on Robben Island, Table Mountain was a beacon of hope. It represented the mainland to which we knew we would one day return.” Visit Robben Island prison, and the fist place Mandela made his home as a free man. The country has since transformed and offers fashion shows, architecture open houses, sustainable farms, galleries and performance spaces and welcomes the public to art studios for an annual visual arts spectacular making Cape Town a cultural destination.
2. North Coast, California
Just over a hundred miles north of San Francisco sit the bluffs of the Mendocino Coast. Travel here and observe marine life and view humpback whales as they pass, sea lions, and watch the foamy waves ebb and flow here. With over 1,300 acres of hiking access to 12- miles of coastline, fields of wildflowers, cypress forest and cliff areas, the Point Arena-Stornetta Public Lands is a great place to see the North Coast. Also home to the California Coastal National Monument, there is plenty to see and do on the California Northern Coast. Travel down the California Costal Trail through the preserve and renew your body, mind and spirit.
Home to the Galápagos Islands, Ecuador is the place of biodiversity your body has been craving. Travel around a mainland that offers over 1,600 species of birds, 4,00 types of orchids, and a condor shelter that is one of the largest on the planet. Feast your eyes on things here you won’t find anywhere else like the snow-capped Andes mountains, volcanoes, and the Devil’s Nose along with a countryside that arrives in a bustling city called Guayaquil. A four-day trip here may include a visit to the Cotopaxi National Park where you can see deer, wolves, bears and maybe even a few condors.
Consider this as a travel destination if you want to do it all. This tiny island is about the size of the Netherlands and is pretty easy to navigate as public transportation includes a network that links to the capital and a bounty of natural and man-made wonders. With a vigorous art scene, Taiwan earned its place as the World Design Capital for 1026. As for your fitness regimen, include any of the 17 bike trails by the shores of Taipei rivers and inlets or just take a cruise through the city streets or stop for a nightcap in any of the nightlife hot spots around town. Just a few hours south by high-speed rail or bus lies 70-square foot Kenting National Park, home to wetlands, white sand, fishing villages and a ferry point for deep sea fishing. A diving paradise, Orchid Island is also accessible and recent changes to China Airways and TransAsia air budgets make this travel destination even more affordable in 2014 than ever.
