4 Weekend Workouts That Preserve Your Free Time
Weekend workouts don’t have to take up your precious R & R time.
You can blend together recreation, and calorie burn with these weekend workouts that are fun, and also tone that physique you work so hard to maintain.
1. Group Fitness Classes
Weekends are a great time to try something new. Use your weekend freedom to head to your local gym, or community fitness center and try a group exercise class. There are tons of options and while Zumba or Yoga classes may not be your cup of tea, there are dance classes, mind/body workouts, spinning and more options to choose from. The key to maintain your sexy, fit body is to keep your body guessing. So if you are looking to burn some calories over the weekend, have fun doing it! Try a few group fitness classes while you have the chance, and beat that fitness plateau with a smile on your face.
2. Hit the Road
No matter where you live, you can take a short day-trip and find a hiking trail that can help you build that mind/body connection. Get out and take an hour or two on the road to find those special places to do your yoga routine, or cardio. While you increase your endurance in the gym Monday through Friday, you can really put it to the test on a weekend trip. Improve your overall physical performance by taking a hike this weekend!
3. Make it Play Time
Your furry friend is loyally waiting for you to return from the office all week. Make your exercise a play date for you and your four-legged companion. Bring along their favorite toy, and enjoy your off-the-leash time together. Hitting the dog park, long trails, or even the sidewalk during the weekend can improve the production of those feel-good chemicals in your brain, burn tons of calories, and strengthen the relationship between you and your pet.
4. Leisurely Stroll
The weekend may be your only time to rest. So sleep in if you want! You can never really catch up with the sleep you miss, but you can take the time you have over the weekend to replenish your body and get some rest. Keep up with your exercise regimen, but take it easy on yourself with a long walk. You’ll be getting your heart rate up, burning calories, toning muscles and allowing your mind to relax with an hour-long walk. Head out in any direction with a pair of comfy shoes, a bottle of water and a rockin’ playlist.
